Nicola Skinner, mum of 3 children, formed Clever Clogs childcare in 2005 after becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of inclusive childcare in her area as one of her children has Cerebral Palsy.  Clever Clogs focuses on the needs of the whole family which is an integral part of our success.

Clever Clogs take pride in the unique level of care we deliver to our children of all ages to ensure each child’s full potential is reached, meeting all children's individual needs.

We provide childcare both in Nursery Settings and also Out of School Clubs both in our Settings or within Primary Schools.

We aim to provide the very best in childcare.  We strive towards this by ensuring we exceed Governments regulations and standards to work towards the National Curriculum - Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) by giving our children many additional opportunities to learn through play.   Our children enjoy learning through play and developing at their own pace in our warm and secure Settings.

We operate a Key Worker System where all of our children have a nominated Key Worker, who is a Qualified Childcare Practitioner, to oversee the care and development of each child’s individual needs.  All our personnel within each Setting are committed to meeting the requirements of the Childcare Act 2006.  We are Ofsted registered to care for children from birth upwards.  Our highly committed and skilled team have always been recognised by Ofsted during inspections.  All of our staff have been approved as suitable to work with children through the Criminal Records Bureau and have passed their Enhanced Disclosures.  Our unique high level of care is also recognised by parents who regularly give us positive feedback.

The buildings in which we are accommodated further compliment the high level of care we give to our children.  We have security entrance systems in place in all of our Nurseries via an intercom and only allow visitors on site with supervised access at all times. The external play area is also fully enclosed.  We are regularly audited by Ofsted, the Fire Department and the Building Regulations Department.
